The neurosurgical department of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich-Grosshadern offers the entire field of neurosurgery at highest international level. This encompasses the multimodal treatment of brain tumours with intraoperative imaging, fluorescence guided resection, intraoperative monitoring including language monitoring during awake craniotomy, PET-guided stereotactic serial biopsy, molecular genetic analysis of tumour specimens, and innovative radio- and chemotherapy.

In addition, a great number of innovative local treatment concepts are being offered for tumour recurrences. In the field of skull base surgery, the whole range of microsurgical treatment is offered using intraoperative monitoring and intraoperative imaging, always in the light of function preservation. This is assisted by stereotactic radiotherapy and radiosurgery, either alone or as a combined treatment approach. Vascular malformations are therapied by an interdisciplinary team of microsurgeons and specialized endovascular neuroradiologists: for each vascular malformation the optimal combination of endovascular, microsurgical and radiosurgical therapy is chosen.

Functional neurosurgery comprises deep brain stimulation (also in children) as well as all pain interventions; in paediatric neurosurgery tumours, spinal malformations, and craniofacial malformations are treated in an interdisciplinary way - for the postoperative care, a specially equipped paediatric intensive care unit is at disposal. Epilepsy surgery is offered for adults and children. Spinal surgery comprises both degenerative diseases (including all stabilisation procedures) as well as tumours of the vertebral bodies, spine and spinal cord.

As an international clinic with maximal medical care, also all neighbouring disciplines that might be involved are available at the Klinikum Grosshadern, meeting the highest quality standards.
